To get started in Cowboy Action Shooting you will need:
Two single action revolvers and a western style gunbelt
A lever action rifle in a pistol calibre (e.g. .357, .38 Special, 44-40 WIN, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt)
Note: rifle must hold 10 rounds in magazine. Not 9 + 1 in the chamber.
A 12, 16 or 20 gauge shotgun using 7 1/2 or 8 shot only. Can be a double barrel with hidden or exposed hammers or Winchester 1897 style pump action.
Collared long sleeved shirt with buttons, jeans or cowboy style dress pants, cowboy boots, cowboy hat
Eye and ear protection
If you do not own the required firearms and have to purchase them, you will need a firearms Possession and Aquisition License (PAL). If you do not have a PAL, go to the Eastern Ontario Handgun Club for instructions on the procedures and courses required.
